March Meeting featuring Master Quilter Shirley Olsen

March birthday girls were lucky to receive green fat quarters.
Thanks Wanda !

The Sewing Basket from American Fork visited us to tell about
their shop and give away nice door prizes.

Helen Butler reminded everyone about our challenge this year , Scrappy trip quilt.

Show and Tell

We started our show and tell with all of the ladies who took Shirley Olsen’s precision piecing class the day before showing our pieces. Those ladies are: Elise Larsen, Debra Thacker, Barb Murdock, Marilyn Steele, Debbie Naylor, Shirley Olsen, Leslie Randle, Patti Kiser, Laura Brown, Jodie Banks, AnnaRae McAllister, Sylvia Kent, Sarah Yorgason, Wendy Cordon, Becky Ghiz, and Reva Beth Russell.

Then we had our regular show and tell where Peggy Narhuminti was first up with her quilt, Friendship Charm. It was made from thousands of different fabrics as tumblers.

Next was Linda Roskelley with a 9 patch.

Third up was Patricia Finley with her quilt, Pink Power, which was made for her great granddaughter, Monroe. Then Patricia showed us a floral bag she made.

Patricia was followed by Margaret Gray with her quilt, Harmony Square. This quilt was done with blues and was from a 2014 Linda Ballard Quilt Fest class. Then she shared us her “son of a quilter” story about using a rotary cutter.

Our fifth presenter was Dionn Stott whose quilt was called Owl Always love you. It was an aqqlique quilt for classes at Blackfoot, HMQS, and Panguitch

Next up was Patti Kiser with her quilt, Mile a Minute. This was a scrappy quilt made with squares that are turned on the diagonal and cut.

Our last presenter was Debra Thacker with her ABC quilt from a class at American Quilting. Her second quilt was birds from Arizona.

Barbara Murdock introduced, our own member,
master quilter Shirley Olsen as our guest national teacher.
We enjoyed Shirley's quilting journey and her beautiful quilts. Several members enjoyed taking two hands on classes Shirley taught on Tuesday and Thursday. They raved about how wonderful these classes were and what a great teacher Shirley is. Shirley quilts all her own quilts, she does both hand and machine quilting. She enjoys working on multiple quilts at a time. Many of her quilts have won many prestigious awards. Shirley designs most of her quilts including the quilting.
