November Show and Tell

Once Again, our Guild has amazed us!
"Congregation of Purple Poppies" by Margaret Gray - Margaret has the EQ 6 and Kaleidoscope software and she made this beautiful quilt in purples and greens with batiks and hand dyes. This is a paper-pieced project - the software has instructions.

"Sandcastles, Altered" & "Sunbonnet Sue Throw" by Julyn Watkins - Julyn's mom wanted a new bedspread (& curtains) for Christmas, so Julyn has has been working on this all year for her Christmas/birthday gift! This Sandcastles bedspread is beautiful in "Moda - Hartfield" - browns, pinks, tans and plums. The darling throw was made with leftovers and appliqued "Sunbonnet Sues".

"Walking in a Winter Wonderland" & "Bright Diamonds" by Vonda Proctor - The "Winter Wonderland" quilt is a gorgeous study in "Blue Work" and embellished with seed beads. The Diamond quilt was inspired from a forum class by Bonnie Miles. She had purchased a kit previously, because of the colors. After Bonnie's class, she changed the pattern to a diamond one and used the beautiful fabrics from her kit - black, hot pink, lime green & yellow. Wow!

"Butterflies", Harvest of Apples" & "Glowing Windows" by Kendra Hall - Kendra has been very busy finishing things this year! 2 of these stunners were quilted by Kim Peterson and the crystals on "Glowing Windows" are gorgeous! Kendra taught a kaleidoscope class at Quilt Fest this year and these were some of her "samples". The Paula Nadelstern fabrics she used in 2 of them really give them a wow factor!
"Buggy Barn Flowers" by Jean Thornock - This darling Buggy Barn flower pattern looks great in the sunny yellows, pinks, lavenders and greens. For her granddaughter's bunk beds! Way to go, Jean!
"Pumpkins Galore" by Davidene Zimmerman - Wow - this title says it all! 140 different fabrics of fun pumpkins! This is a Becky Morganson Pattern (Pumpkins, Pumpkins). The method was easy - use washable glue to hold down the applique pumpkins, and don't sew it until you are quilting! Super job, Davidene!

"Every Witch Way", "Snowmen in the Window" & "Christmas Trees" by Sarah Weaver - Sarah has completed a darling trio of holiday quilts! The 4 witches' hats are entwined in bright colors - pinks, purples, greens and oranges. The Christmas Trees are so cute in greens, stripes and plaids. The 3 snowmen, looking out the "window" is set on a blue background of stars - just adorable!
"Storm at Sea" by Debby Huber - Debby said this quilt should be named "Quilt of a thousand pieces"! It is a beautiful paper-pieced quilt in blues, whites and reds for her father's 80th birthday. Machine Quilted by Rexine Jensen. It ended up this size because of a mistake in Debby's multiplication - but it's gorgeous!
"BQ Music Quilt" by Pauline Persson - Brown Music Instruments with white music notes. this quilt is for a great grandson that lives in Atlanta, Georgia and takes violin lessons. Quilted by Kim Peterson. Great job, Pauline!
"Hannah's Quilt" by Debbie Robertson - This gorgeous quilt is a photo quilt made with brights and black fabric. Photos are of Debbie's mother-in-law, daughter and niece. Hannah, her niece, is grieving the loss of her grandmother who died in June. It will be her Christmas present.
"Asian Clouds" by Kathy Porter - This stunning quilt was made with leftover Asian fabrics from another quilt Kathy made. It has Asian clouds in the border.

Aspen Grove

Mary Jo Roberts and Kim Borup and their amazing committee planned a perfect quilting retreat at Aspen Grove November 4-7. Everyone had so much fun visiting, learning, eating and sewing. Thanks to Kim for sharing her pictures! Push play to get an idea of just how much fun we had.
