Bonnie Miles displayed a beautiful floral appliqué quilt. The floral appliqué was done in hand-dyed fabrics on a black background. She learned this in a class at a previous Quilt Fest. Striking!
Barb Murdock made a cozy flannel quilt for her sister. She used a small piece of southwestern flannel fabric from her stash, and added other pieces to it. A lot of family members have been receiving wonderful flannel quilts courtesy of Barb!
Marlene Cook showed three fun quilts. Her daughter-in-law had a double lung transplant, and has problems with ants in her home. Marlene made a darling “Antitude” quilt for her with red/white checkboard and ants stealing the picnic. Pattern is by Corey Blunt.
The second quilt is appliqué with bright flowers, “Flower Power” pattern by Peggy Waltman.

Joseph Barley composed “The Beast” in a high school quilt class. This is an amazing quilt for a first-time quilter. It features a 1970’s muscle car printed onto fabric, with appliquéd planes, and paper pieced stars in the corners. It was machine quilted in black thread, and the outline of the car shows on the lighter colored quilt back. He wants to give special thanks to his Mom for all of her help.
Suzzanne Cutler made a darling Turtle Baby Quilt. It has puffy green and yellow turtles with red and blue snail tails. Bright and fun!
Shirley Olsen quilted “Rachelle’s Scrappy Star Quilt” that was pieced by her daughter, Rachelle, about 11 years ago. This commemorates Rachelle’s graduation from Harvard this year with a PhD in molecular biology. She collected signatures from friends, teachers, and family members for the centers of the stars. She now works for Saint Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN doing cancer research.
Sue Proctor displayed two quilts. She made a “Bonnet Girl” quilt top in high school, which was quilted by a handicapped lady in Benjamin.
She also composed a brown and blue quilt with flowers that contains words of advice to the bride, with handwritten messages entitled “When You Look At Me.”
Francine Berrett showed three quilts. The first is “Lollipop Flowers”, pattern by Nancy Schultz, done in pink, red, and blue—bright and fun!
She taught a mystery quilt class at Peteet Neet which used a charm pack set on point with appliqué, of course.
She also made a “One Day Quilt” with appliquéd sunflowers against a brick wall—amazing!
