These are different decorative stitches that can really add to your project. Ella recommended making a sample of the decorative stitches (below) your machine can do. If you take the time to make a sample with contrasting fabric and thread you can see at a glance what the stitches actually look like instead of relying on the tiny line drawings on your machine.
