June Guild Meeting Denise Snyder

 Denise  Snyder and her daughters Melissa and Rebecca entertained us with a wondefrul trunk show of Denise's quilts. Her daughters work together designing fabrics and explained the process. Their work is truly beautiful fun and inspiring!

 We welcome a new member.

Show and Tell

First was Jill Cox. She loves novelty prints and her first quilt was a stack and whack quilt called “Light my Fire” with shirtless firemen! She said that she was keeping this one for herself J It was quilted by Rebecca Morgensen. Then she showed us two different I spy quilts. One was “I spy sparkle” and one was” I spy in 3-D”. Both were rotary cut and machine quilted. All were her own designs. 

Next was Brenda Sommers. She used a panel to make an “A is for Adorable Grandchildren” quilt with a soft navy minky back. 

Then Myrna Carnesecca showed three quilts. First was a 9-patch baby quilt with scalloped binding made from 30’’s fabrics. It was from a class taught by Ann Lewis. Next was “Posy Flower” done in 30’s fabrics from a pattern by 2 Peas in a Pod. Last she showed “Blue Ribbon” also by 2 Peas in a Pod made with bright fabrics in a throw size. 

Next Nancy Palmer showed “Heartstrings. This was a pastel baby quilt with hearts and a pink minky back. She also made several doll quilts and pillows from the fabric.

Then Linda Roskelley showed a quilt called “Hexstar” This was a scrappy stars quilt made with lots of colorful Hexies and she also made a quilted pillowcase.

 Next up was Janice Walker who did a 9-patch quilt from a kit from Cotton Shop. She also showed us “Bordered Periwinkle” made from orange fabric then she showed “Autumn Splendor” which is a Missouri Star Quilt Company pattern.

Then Margaret Gray showed us “Larry and Karina’s Fair Quilt.” Her son Larry and his wife won 10 one half yard cuts of AQS’s Feather and Song fabrics at the 2015 Iowa State Fair. The fabric arrived at her door and she will now return the finished quilt to them.

Next was Diane Hess with her “Dear Jane” quilt done with black sashing. She started it in 2008 and finished it in 2016. It is hand quilted.

Lynnette Rose named her quilt “Wacky Tabackie.” It is made with Civil War fabrics.

Our next presenter was Marilyn Hamblen with her quilt “Streets of Seattle.” It showed bright spring flowers: tulips, lilies and orchids, framed with black. Her granddaughter, Leah, is her quilt helper and was with her at our guild meeting to show the quilt.

Next up was Karlene Riggs whose quilt was named “Heartstrings.” Machelle Preston designed the pattern and Karlene tested it. It was done with hand embroidered hearts. Karlene also showed us her Sheri Falls Christmas quilt. It was made with Lori Holt’s new fabric line with a Sheri Falls Christmas pattern (Machelle Preston will be teaching this class in August).

Barbara Murock showed some beautiful quilts  in stiking orange and purple color combinations.
